de renard

This sign is on the nature walk beside the river. Whilst I appreciate the opportunity to learn more about the fox and other animals as I walk I have no idea why they chose to depict de renard dealing with constipation.

Annecey

I posted some winter photos of Annecey. We liked it so much we went back for more in Spring.

Nothing like an ice-cream on a hot day.

The tulips in flower.

I4 getting a lift.

Marseille

Marseille would have been much nicer if it was sunny but it was still worth a visit. We ate some fantastic Moroccan food there and some really nice seafood. I think I would go back for the food alone....

This shop made me think of Mrs Neurotic because she hates Crocs so I took a photo.

Luckily the merry-go-round doesn't stop for rain or the boys would have eaten us alive.

This is why the seafood tastes so good. You can buy it still flapping its flippers from the fisher folk at the harbour.

Just because

Sunshine and lollipops.....

Chamonix

I heart Chamonix.
It's got a certain vibe about it - people are excited to be there.
We were living too close to justify staying overnight instead of doing day trips which kind of sucked because we were dying to ski the Vallee Blanche and a few other runs but there was no way that we could get the boys to their creche early enough to do it.

We had to be satisfied with taking some photos and hanging out with the boys - which really wasn't very satisfactory at all.

The boys with one of the old trains that used to take people up to the glacier.

The boys on the steps going down to the Glacier.

I took some photos of the ice grotto down there but they were all dodgy.

Helmets FTW

The pile of snow on my helmet happened when I came off some powder and onto a groomed run and stacked it. The Mountain Man took this photo a few minutes later. The pile of snow had diminished a bit by then. Most men offer their wives sympathy when they stack it, mine takes photos so he can have another laugh a few months later.

The Swiss Wall

The Swiss Wall is rather cool because you start on the border of France and Switzerland and finish in Switzerland.

Special Deer

Luckily we never hit a Winged Deer. It would have felt awful to drive into such a rare beast.

Yvoire

Yvoire is a tiny medieval town not far from Morzine. We dropped in on the way home from the market one day. It was a pretty drab and dreary day but the town was still lovely.

I guess that once these boats were for fishing but I think that these days it's all about tourism.

The Tree

When Dad and Gillian came to stay they helped the boys stick katkins to a tree.

After that the boys decorated the tree a little more every time we walked past.
